how much the different shapes of the cars made on some of the tracks compared to the differences in engines. Besides, safety I always thought NASCAR did it to try to become more like F1 and try to increase its popularity to that level. Then again, maybe I am off base there. I do agree with you about the super teams, but at the same time I was never a fan of park-n-start teams either. If NASCAR limited the number of drivers per teams, then would we see an increase in the number of park-n-start teams?

For me I have a distant familial tie to the sport. Kyle Petty's wife is my second cousin once removed (or something like that). So growing up watching the sport as a teen I was mindful of the great families in racing. With Adam's untimely death, it seemed like that was an end of the era given that there would be no Allison, Petty, or Unser participating as a driver anymore. Even though there was an Andretti, John was never really a serious contender. I guess you could add Earnhardt's name to the list, but I am not sure JR was ever a serious contender like his daddy and none of the other Earnhardts were ever serious drivers. The reason I mention it is because those family names helped make the sport into what is today and there doesn't seem to be any worthy families to add to that list. The Bodines, Burtons, and Buschs may be the closest thing but none truly deserving of being added to the list.
