Honestly, I am not sure how the media ended up selecting those names. It may have to do with whether any of the driver's children and maybe even grandchildren got into the sport too as a driver. Then again, I am not sure if either of the Wood brothers had any children.

A.J. Foyt is another legendary driver that will probably never have the Foyt name added to that list. If that era is truly gone, then maybe the media doesn't care anymore since since there will be no "families" competing in NASCAR after this year and only 1 "family" in IndyCar.
