The NBADL (might be called the Gatorade League now) is the NBA's

minor league. Some of the NBADL teams are affiliated with 2 NBA teams. I think there is (maybe was) 1 NBADL team that was affiliated with 3 NBA teams. Also, I think there are a couple NBADL teams that are only affiliated with 1 NBA team. I don't think the relationship between the NBA and NBADL is exactly like the relationship you see in MLB. It may be more similar to what you see in the NHL (i.e. Washington Caps - Hershey Bears).

My point is that colleges may no longer stand for allowing the NFL and the NBA to use college athletics as a "free minor league." Particularly since some of the rules these pro leagues have is having an negative impact on the college product (i.e. 1-n-Done in college basketball). So the schools may start to push back more against these pro leagues to implement rules that don't have a negative impact on the college product.

I guess it is possible the colleges could decide to implement their own rules which could have a negative impact on the pro leagues. For example the schools could decide to do away with 1-year scholarships and only use 4-years scholarship. At the same time the rule could also stipulate that if a recruit accepts 1 of these scholarships, then he/she is expected to graduate with an undergraduate degree before turning pro or be required to payback the full value of the athletic scholarship. The only waiver to this new rule could be transferring to another school. Yes, I know it is a bit radical, but at some point someone could decide to do something radical because they feel like their hand is being forced. Another radical move could be turning "big time college athletics" into its own professional league.
