Surviving and being a cash cow are two very different things.
My question to you is this. Do you believe ESPN can charge enough sports fans $7.21 per month to make up for all the non sports fans that are severing ties with any sports on their TV's.
As the article mentioned, ESPN got rich making $7.21 for everyone who bought cable. Didn't matter if they ever watched a sporting event on TV or not.
Believe it or not, there are lots, and lots of folks out there that do not care for sports. If your circle of friends are all interested in sports, it may seem as if everyone wants sports.
I know personally I will not pay $7.21/month to ESPN to watch streaming ESPN programming. The only sporting events I'm interested in at my 70 years of age are VT ones. I'm mildly interested in college football in general.
Currently, I stop watching ESPN when college football season ends, and do not start watching again until a couple of weeks before the season starts. And then I will only watch college football shows.
