I still remember a looooong Lounge discussion from years ago


Someone -- I believe JLM-Hokie -- had decided to dump his girlfriend. However, it was the week of a wedding where the gf was maid of honor. JLM was scheduled to go to the wedding with her, but her bossiness and ranting about the wedding was what made him want to dump her -- she was assigning him tasks (rather than asking) like picking people up at the airport that he didn't know, setting up chairs, etc.

He told The Lounge the story, and asked whether he should dump her BEFORE the wedding or take her current stress level into consideration and dump her AFTER the wedding. I told him the answer to one question would provide him the guidance he needed:

Is there an open bar?

I don't recall whether he went or not, or even if he ended up dumping her after all. But the story prompted the writing of lyrics for a never-published/performed song called "I Only Came for the Open Bar," so I remember it for that reason.
