Here is a well thought out opinion from

a poster on 247 regarding Mills...."Yes, it's mattered extensively. This is a horrible myth surrounding the TO. Getting yards with the TO is a certainty, yes, but actually putting drives together and scoring points still requires talent running the ball. People live in some sort of morbid fantasy where the TO is 800 yards, 70ppg, and 10 wins a season with scout team players from a DII school.

GT's worst year under Johnson was two years ago, the one after they came from nowhere the win the Coastal. What happened to them that year? They lost 5 of their top 7 TBs from the year prior and their top 3 or 4 WRs. They finished that year with the #1 rushing attack in the country. And a 3-9 record.

Dedrick Mills was a likely 1st team all-ACC pick for the next two-three seasons, this is a major blow. They lost the other experienced B-back they had because he got tired of splitting time with Mills. They now have a bunch of guys with like 20 total snaps between them. This is an enormous loss for GT and they will struggle heavily for it. GT needs more than random bodies to successfully run that offense beyond just chewing up yards between the 20s (remember that 2015 season? they were 78th in RZ O), they need talent".
