The US Amateur is IMO the most grueling event in golf

First you have to qualify to play through the qualification process, then two rounds of stroke play, then an 18 hole match in the round of 64, then later that same day another 18 hole match in the round of 32, then an 18 hole match in the quarters, 18 in the semis, and 36 again in the final, all on the same course. You have to have incredible mental toughness to overcome the physical challenges as well as the nerves that exacerbate them- sleeplessness, nervous stomach, etc. And it's all being done by 19 and 20 year olds.

If I could win any of the known tournaments I'd win the US Amateur.
