some years. If a team wants to have a Top 10 class, then it will probably need around 20 4/5-star recruits and no more than 5 3-star recruits. Where VT could get into some trouble is because VA doesn't produce a large number of 5-star and 4-star recruits every year. Also the state doesn't always have the variety of positions at the 4/5-star level. If given the choice between recruiting to fill a need or recruit for Top 10 class, then I would go with the need and let the chips fall where they may with the class ranking. At least it doesn't make sense to recruit too many players at certain positions if it means not having enough depth at other positions.
