Super 32 Qualifier
Unless he finished top 4 in his State last season, he would need to qualify through a Super 32 qualifier tournament. Google for one of the qualifiers in your area or you may also be able to find that info on the Super 32 page.
I would think the qualifier tournament would give him a good sense of where he is. My son wrestled in the Super 32 qualifier at Skyline HS in VA a few years ago, and did very well. I went back once and looked at the people he faced there, and about 5 out of 7 (just an estimate from recollection) are wrestling in college, although not all D1.
Super 32 is an awesome tournament, and there's rarely any harm in trying to wrestle up to the next level of competition. I remember that we were hanging out at Super 32 with a very humble (but confident) young man who was there mostly on his own. We spent a good amount of the day with him. It was Dom Demas (now at Oklahoma and a member of the USA Jr World Team).
