For as long as I can remember Arkansas always played 1

home game in Little Rock each season. Besides AR-LR, the only other team that doesn't sponsor football in the Sun Belt is UT-Arlington. I don't believe the Mavericks have any desire to sponsor football. Since Idaho and New Mexico State are leaving the Sun Belt after this season and the Sun Belt announced it would continue the CCG with 10 teams.

East: App State, Coastal Carolina, Ga Southern, Ga State, and Troy

West: Ark State, UL-Lafayette, UL-Monroe, S. Alabama, and Texas State

If AR-LR does announce it is sponsoring football, then it will be interesting to see what the Sun Belt next move will be given that conferences with fewer than 12 members must play a round robin conference schedule in order to play a CCG. I am assuming that S. Alabama would move to the East and the Sun Belt would have to find another West school to join AR-LR. I guess the other possibility is that AR-LR and Troy join the West and the Sun Belt finds 3 new members (most likely football-only members) for the East so it can have 14 football members.

If New Mexico St is still in the FBS, then the Aggies may be given another opportunity to re-join the Sun Belt (probably as a football-only member). Another possibility is North Alabama which will complete the transition from DII to DI (will play DI-FCS football) in 2018. North Alabama plans to play football in the Big South and be a member of the Atlantic Sun in all other sports. I guess Liberty and JMU could be remote possibilities, but I don't think either school has any desire to join the Sun Belt as a football-only or full member.
