That idea works, but it requires a rule change that the B1G just blocked.

I'm fine with the three division set up. It's been proposed here, and when the ACC was trying to get the rules changed so that there does not need to be 2 divisions of round robin play to have a championship game, that was one of the possible ways to set up the league. Initially it looked like the rule change would pass to allow more flexibility by conferences in determining champions, but Jim Delany of the B1G convinced the PAC12 to vote against it, and then they convinced the SEC to vote against it. So it failed. We have to have 2 divisions that play round robin to determine the 2 teams for the Championship Game. We cannot have 3. The rotating 4 PODS still form two divisions for the season. So that works, but we will need 16 members.
