The infamous USN&WR rankings. Fake news! ;)
Tech moved up to #69 but really didn't move up because some many schools are ranked #69. Clemson dropped because they won a national championship in football. USN&WR's rankings favor liberal arts schools and almost any school in the University of California system. IMHO, Tech will always be right were they are (upper 60's to mid 70's) since there's really no room for Tech to move up. UConn better than Tech academically? Not really. Northeastern really that good? Not really. I call that New England bias. And is Penn State really that much better than Tech? No, they aren't. I know from experience. If Tech wins a football championship, we'll be grouped with FSU and NC State next year. Is the drop in rankings worth it? Sure it is. USN&WR shows a photo of Lane Stadium on our ranking write-up, so they must assume that Tech is a jock school. I was hoping for a photo of the horse on the treadmill. A year from now, Tech will be ranked somewhere between #69 and #75 unless a few more U of Cal. schools pass us. Some things just never change. [Post edited by Old Line Hokie at 09/12/2017 10:44PM]
