A human makes a choice to be addicted to anything, when I was in HS and at VT I drank quite a bit of booze, as I got older it slowed way down. People that are addicted to any substance or action (shopaholics for instance) can get away from it if they have the fortitude to do that. For alcohol just drinking some will have no affect on you, abusing it will for sure. For the drugs that are illegal just taking some will have an affect on you and your body (damage it) so yes I think there is a distinction between alcohol and illegal drugs. But as with anything if you abuse it affects yourself negatively.
