Those drives, especially early on, which ended at like 4th and 2, were caused specifically because they had the speed to get to the ball carrier after the running lane was changed. The teams that VT's played which don't have such a talent advantage would've given up the extra yard or two in the first 3 downs to allow the drive to continue.
