You're right, I don't recall anyone outright saying that we would roll them. And frankly, even if I had, that would have been fine. It's many of the reactions to the loss that I'm responding to. The litany of complaints are to be expected unfortunately. But when someone says their expectations for the season, team, coaching staff, etc. are revised because of the game, it suggests that they expected better.

I want to be clear that my point is not that Tech had no chance to win. It's that it was not the most probable outcome. Tech absolutely could have won this game this year and, as you suggest, with last year's team as well. It's reasonable to say that the depth of someone's disappointment correlates to the extent to which their expectations were violated. If that's true, then based on the post-game complaints, a whole lot of people had some pretty high expectations.
