Here is my take...
Plays are never run to lose yardage....
Player execution of assignments, talent level, and execution by the opposing D all factor in...
So from a play call that doesn't get the desired result things can be learned...
1) Their D strategy
2) personnel substitutions
3) weaknesses
So, coach Fu indicated in the post game interview,
"they were dropping everyone into coverage"
This limited our over the middle passing game early on....
I expected to see the "JUMP PASS" to Keene but a LB in the middle of the play doesn't lend itself to success....
So WR screens, jet sweeps, option pitches, hopefully spread them out to open the middle of the field...
Saw this more as the game went on..
Basically, set them up for a future play....
Clemson's Jimmys and Joes were just really good...
