So VT plays and beats an undefeated Da U. VT will have to run the remaining table in order to win the division. Very little margin for error especially since realistically this team is a few pieces and/or years away to be able to handle that level of pressure. Also, the team may have to deal with the pressure of Notre Dame. 1 more loss could cost the team a division title, NYD6 bowl game, and losing a bowl bid to Notre Dame.

Whereas people will still be interested in a 1-loss Da U especially if FSU won a close game and/or if some fluke was involved in FSU's victory. The team will have to deal with less pressure because of the larger margin for error. Yeah I get why people would prefer playing an undefeated Da U and most years I would agree with it. Just not this year especially if VT has the potential to be ahead of schedule (perceptually speaking) because that could help with recruiting down the road.
