I thought missing out on the past 2 Olympics was somewhat

significant given how well the Under teams were performing during that time period. However, I didn't give it as much importance as Twellman given the field for the Olympics is smaller than the World Cup.

As far as the unearned arrogance, I do kinda agree with him in that US Soccer (the federation) assumes the USMNT will always qualify for the World Cup given how weak CONCACAF is perceived to be, so there isn't any incentive to continuously improve the quality of the USMNT. I thought his reference to Germany and the "10-year plan" the Germans came up with was spot on. US Soccer and MLS should work together to develop a similar 10-year plan for USMNT. The goal of this plan should be to improve the quality of both the USMNT and MLS (specifically viewed as a first tier league globally instead of a second tier league) within that defined time period. If US Soccer is going to be completely overhauled, then this may be the perfect time to completely overhaul MLS too.
