Use the foreign used income exclusion, she makes so little that her income combined with mine if we file jointly would only result in about 1000 total in fed. Income tax on our return since no one else can claim us as dependents and we have a 6 year old daughter. So as long as they’re withholding around 40 bucks per paycheck, I should be okay. I’ll get one paycheck, or at least I should if everything works out, in 2017, so I can see how much is being withheld for federal. Easy enough to tweak my W-4 if it’s not enough or too much. I’m trying not to get too excited about this, but it’s my dream job and it has been a long and uncertain wait with everything apparently finally coming together.
