that's definitely fair...apologies

but your prior post did indicate athletes getting advantages that other students don't...plenty of non-athletes took the fraudulent courses at UNC...courses that were created and managed by (crappy) academic folks.

or does the NCAA step in regardless of the "guilt" of the athletic department? If University of XYZ goes on SACS probation tomorrow for some department "not meeting accredited standards"...and athletes have taken classes in that department, does the NCAA step in with penalties?

fwiw, I don't think your stance is unreasonable and I agree with a lot of the sentiment...I'm just presenting a different perspective on it...I don't think this issue is as easy as most seem to want it to be.

I really wish there were a way to have admissions standards be the same for athletes as for the rest of the student population...then the temptation to do these bad things would be far less. But that's another one that's pretty much impossible to pull off.
