and with the way you handle the testosterone spewing in here, I would fully expect you to have that type of reaction to a guy hitting on you...and if he walks away...in your words, it is fine and over...if not and it escalates, he is definitely harassing.

My only concern is with the "victim always gets to define if it was harassment" concept. If you feel uncomfortable, well you feel uncomfortable - can't change that, and you shouldn't have to. However, in today's world many women would perceive what you consider fine, as harassment.

So, as you say some women are fine with his first comment, (as long as he immediately drops it) a few may even be just a tiny, tiny bit flattered (I'll catch it for that, but everyone likes to think others are looking now and then) and some would definitely consider it harassment. Therefore it shouldn't automatically make a guy an evil sexist if he says the same thing to someone who he doesn't know is more easily offended.

He may be a little too pushy and/or she may be a little too easily offended, but it's possible that neither are evil or wrong.

Societal norms have to be taken into account - and challenging today's normal is good, and needed, but you shouldn't let an extremist in any issue define what is required for all.
