Did the cover up by PSU officials keep any athletes eligible who ...

... wouldn't otherwise? No. Did the cover up help recruiting since it kept athletes in the dark about a very horrific situation? Maybe. But the cover up extended all the way up to the president of the university, correct? And did the entire university, which would include students, benefit from the cover up? Yes. Did the cover up help in continuing to attract regular students? Maybe.

I continue to maintain that the PSU cover up had less effect on maintaining an unfair athletic advantage for PSU, than the fake classes at UNCheat did in maintaining an unfair athletic advantage for UNCheat.

What the NCAA had in PSU was what they thought was low hanging fruit. They could lower the boom on PSU, even though any jurisdiction was tenuous at best, because of the vileness of what went on there, and the public's revulsion of what went on, would cover for any lack of jurisdiction.

The fact that the NCAA withdrew or threw out most of the penalties against PSU showed the NCAA for what it is. An empty suit. A hollow organization.
