Not sure about sports. But HBO you can purchase independently

After I signed up for HBO with my cable company, I found out their service didn't include access to HBO Go (i.e. their streaming service). I've noticed I never actually sit down and watch what is on HBO, I only watched their offerings through the Roku.

But through a streaming device, you can subscribe to HBO Now, which is a streaming-only version of HBO. $15 a month, but i watch enough of it to be worth it.
