Given that the Nats have yet to play in World Series even


though they have had multiple teams with enough talent to go that far, it was time for a change. I don't think Dusty was blamed for any of the similar mistakes made by the previous managers. However, I do think the Lerners (or management) see the Nats in this endless cycle of not living up to expectations. Plus, Dusty is getting up there in age, so he may not want to manage for too much longer. If the window to get to a World Series and win one is starting to close, then can the Nats afford to waste time so Dusty can ride off into the sunset on his own terms?
