Much of it has to do with the rivalries regional nature.


Living in Richmond we have WVU fans all over the place. When you see them most every day, you tend to hear about what they are doing now even in the Big XII. So I imagine that is also going on around Pittsburgh and other places in Virginia. I think that one would rekindle just by proximity.

I think the WVU rivalries with Syracuse and Miami would cool off, but for VT and Pitt the passion would come back really quickly due to geography.
