What was up with that no-TD call against Blees?

When they stopped play because Blees was in danger of ripping Fox's foot off, why was that not a takedown? I don't know the details of what constitutes 'gaining control' but he certainly looked in control of his opponent there to me. So why was that not considered a TD? That call and the TD of Bolen, which Robie unsuccessfully challenged, both confused the heck out of me. Can any of you guys who actually understand the rules fill me in on why those two calls were made the way they were? Thankfully neither of them changed the match results, but I found them both frustrating.
