Personally


I think folkstyle is a true gauge of who is the superior wrestler. You have to truly out wrestle your opponent in folkstyle and impose more dominance.

In freestyle there’s ways to score and win matches without even really wrestling or ever really dominating your opponent. It’s a far more tactical and technical form of wrestling. In freestyle you could get a takedown, but give up a bunch of points in the process. Its beautiful and aggravating at the same time. It’s definitely an acquired taste.
