By the other ACC schools....
UNC and NC State have had strong recruiting seasons. NC State have strung together a couple good recruiting crops.
Do you agree that there's pressure in maintaining excellence in the ACC? While I wasn't alluding to donors, fans, or AD.... Robie has be able to turn a negative event (losing Dresser) into positive momentum for SERTC. That's no easy feat. But the donations to SERTC were predicated on the fact that it would improve our recruiting. If the recruiting fails to improve, that could impact SERTC and send donations in the other direction.
So far our class consists of:
1) A top 20 overall wrestler, who could be credited to the previous coach..
2) A wrestler who's in the top 10 in his class.
3) Two unranked wrestlers.
So yes, it's EXTREMELY important to show results in recruiting. My guess, knowing Robie, is most of the pressure will come from himself. He wants to win and has waited awhile for this opportunity. I think he's done an amazing job thus far, but it's an underwhelming class, that is still capable of big things.
What Robie has always done well is develop underrated guys. That will always be his superpower, but if we want to remain in the top 5 going forward, we need to have a strong class next year.
