ADA survey with Waterpik of flossing habits of 1000 adults
Items that people have used to remove things stuck between their teeth include:
Fingernails (61%), pieces of paper(40%), safety pins(14%), cutlery(21%) strands of hair(7%).
Miscellaneous included twigs, matchbooks, toenails, loose electrical wires, screwdrivers and pocketknives.
42% reported pain when removing something with one of these unusual items (Duhhhhh!). 20% said they "only floss when they needed to"(??????????) 44% say they lie to their dentist when asked how much they floss.
I personally can't think of ANY instance where I would have a toenail handy to remove something in between my teeth Of course maybe it was still attached and just easier than using a fingernail????
Anyone have anything to add???? that they will admit???
