I dunno about "don't trust him at all"...gotta look at game situations
maybe you're just talking about what you have heard from practice reports, but I don't think the usage in-game has been at all unusual or indicative of a lack of trust; it's just that it was all in mop-up duty (until GT, when he came in with specific run packages). He got in against ECU with a 50-17 lead, had maybe 20-ish snaps while running out the clock, and still managed to throw 2 passes. ODU came in with a 38-0 lead, 20ish snaps, 2 passes (on just 2 drives) while killing the clock. Against UNC he threw the ball 7 times, 5 times on just one drive, despite entering the game with a 45-7 lead and again, killing the clock.
In the Beamer era, if we were in those score situations, we would have been lucky for him to have 3 total pass attempts. I think the fact he has 11 attempts isn't bad at all. And the fact that in the most recent blowout game he seems to have earned enough "trust" to throw it 7 times (actually 8, because one play got called back) seems a positive development.
