Teams like Clemson and FSU are able to run the ball
and may have elite RBs. Although I am not sure last year's Clemson team had an elite RB. However, those teams don't need to run always run between the tackles to establish the running game and be successful. I would probably include UF under Meyer and USC under Carroll in that same group.
Even though Fuente is trying to establish a better running game, his version probably won't look like the "traditional running game" (i.e. line up in I-formation and run between the tackles majority of the time). I suspect there is a group of fans that would prefer to see Fuente implement the traditional running game. Hopefully in the next couple years Fuente will have all the pieces in place so he can show the fans his version of the running game. Also, I hope that majority of fans embrace his vision especially if VT is having success on the gridiron.
