I interpreted your post to mean the teams, not the fans
The problem with the ACC and almost all conferences nowadays is that most logical destinations are not "driveable" for a lot of fans. The ACC compounds the problem by having too many small schools with weak fan support. The only way a large contingent of Miami fans will show up for a big game is if the game is in Miami. I'm not convinced Syracuse or BC will ever be as good on the field as they were in the 1980s and 1990s, and their fan support is just abysmal these days.
