Even if you close the account they could still take it if you bank at the


same bank. When my mom passed in April 2010 she kept getting VA checks till November. We did all the correct paper work etc. Direct Deposit kept coming, we kept the account open at the bank, cause we knew that the government would want it back. Every time I called, they said we will send you a notice and you just send us a check. Nope the week before we were to go to the Orange Bowl v Stanford, they jerked it out. A bank employee, saw last name an took it out of my account instead of the estate account. I had just transferred money for trip.
Big mess.
