I went to high school with Ware. He was a leaper
Iirc he set the Delaware high school record for high jump. There are all kinds of stories about his jumping prowess. I remember he walked with a real spring in his step.
That '67 team made the elite 8 and lost to Dayton who had a star in future NBAer Don May. A lot of people thought we would have had a chance vs. UCLA because we had two shooters in Glen Coombs and Chris Ellis. Coombs set records in the old ABA for his three pointers, they called him the Kentucky sharpshooter (he was from Kentucky and played for the ABA Kentucky Colonels. Ellis was from Tidewater (Norfolk?), he was a good get when Howie Shannon recruited him, a real smooth player off the ball and a nice shooter.
