It's just not as simple as you want it to be


you've got a fine argument against Alabama...other bubble teams are easily subject to the same.

Do you have an example of "consistent criteria"? That can realistically be applied?

"Conference championships matter" is cetainly easy to evaluate, but how much does it count? "

Getting beat badly up front" is not really operational.

"You have to finish well" is not really operational. How much should "you got beat by 12 and gave up 400 yards to a team that lost by 21 the next week" count?
Is there some sort of sliding scale for those numbers? Does who either team was matter? How much?

Everyone would love "consistent criteria," but it's just not feasible. Unless you have the path...would love to hear it.

"Conference Championship is prerequisite" is the one that's easy to apply and be consistent with. You still need to eliminate one team, but it gets simpler. I'm fine with that, but I'm not sure it's "better," it's just "easier."
