Re: Anyone know the scoop on how OSU is defensively? Seems like one key.....

I live in Okc, and I have seen a number of their games on television. OSU has not had a tradition of particularly good defense for many years. This sticks in the craw of OSU fans as they have believed that they have during several years an offense good enough to compete for a national championship. It's kind of the reverse mirror image of VT during the years when Bud's defense was great but the offense couldn't get it done in big games. This year's defense is ranked somewhere in the mid-80's and has given up a lot of big pass plays, many blown coverages. They did play well for a two game stretch including against Texas but then collapsed in the end of the year against OU, gave up plays to WVU although they won in Morgantown, and against Iowa and TCU. Their defensive coordinator is a bit on the hot seat. The AD and Boone Pickens want him gone but Gundy has stuck by him thus far.
