We have the toughest schedule in the ACC.

9-9 this year is probably better than 10-8 last year, simply because we play 2 games vs all of the top teams in the ACC except UNC. And we only play one game vs all of the lower ranked teams. It's an incredibly tough schedule and renders moot any talk of VT's weak OOC schedule, IMO. If VT wins 9 ACC games this year, we will be in the tournament.

The "good" news about playing all of the good teams twice is that it gives VT multiple opportunities at picking up signature wins, and quite a few of those at home, as VT plays Duke, Miami, Louisville, UNC, UVA and FSU all at home this year. (And 12 games vs all of those teams + @ND = Loads of potential Top 25 wins ) The bad news is that VT is probably losing multiple home games this year, which necessitates multiple road victories to compensate.

I feel like we are getting a "bit" lucky with the fact that our "easier" single game opponents like GT, Clemson, Pitt, BC, NCST and WF, etc set up well from a home/road perspective. We get Pitt early at home between @Cuse and UVA when we are going to need a W. We travel to BC, GT and WF, where I've always felt rather comfortable with VT winning road games. We avoid travelling to Clemson and NCST, where I have never felt comfortable with VT winning. VT really needs to go 6-0 against these 6 teams, and I think the schedule sets up nicely for that. Even 5-1 guarantees VT 2 ACC road wins, which will be very important given the tough home games VT will be playing.

I think VT can get to 9-9 this year, and 10-8 would be amazing. We should be happy with either.
