It's maddeningly inconsistent; Star Trek for Millennials (no spoilers)

At first I couldn't believe that Seth McFarland did such a straight up homage to Star Trek - especially with the actual Star Trek debuting as well (though online).

The first few episodes go back and forth in style between ST and Family Guy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Then suddenly, they do a thoughtful episode (About a Girl). And then one or two more. And you're thinking, "This is actually pretty good." Then they do a couple of clinkers.

So jury is out for me, and I am, as you know, a long-time ST fan and a huge sci-fi fan. But the show itself it gaining an audience of people who see it as ST with "real people" who cuss and make dumb jokes and go to bathroom.

I've called it ST for millennials since the first episode, because it has moments of brilliance that surprise you, and then it does the dumbest things and gets self-indulgent. One of my biggest issues is McFarland as the captain. I have a tough time with his swarmyness.
