Fwiw, "if you win your conference, you are by default the best"


is also subjective...you won the conference, but "best" is vague...how often do we hear "the best team didn't win"???

I agree with the sentiment that if you don't win your conference you don't get to compete for the national championship (at least as long as the number of playoff spots is smaller than the number of conferences), but "best" is subjective
