I have come around to liking the idea of ND staying "quasi-independent"

Full disclosure: I detest the idea of certain programs in CFB being "special". I detest the idea that ND gets better bowls games and media love then they earn on the field. And, I do think the ND made the ACC "look weak" when it was announced. And I root against ND in almost every game they play. Except one, BWAHAHAHA!

However, after 4 years of play... I like the deal and I'm in no hurry for ND to join the ACC.

Consider:
* ND plays 5 ACC games every year. Every one of them is nationally televised. Less exposure for the B1G, more exposure for the ACC.
* ND is not eligible for the ACCCG, even if they sweep their ACC schedule.
* ND can play a 6th game against an ACC team in the Orange Bowl, if they ever get good enough.
* ND can jump an ACC team for a non "Big 6" bowl game... but has no effect on ACC teams qualifying for the "Big 6" bowls (no taking the spots that really matter). Because of this, the ACC surely has a few better bowl options than they would have (and we would hope this improves in the future as the ACC profile is rising).

I make it it a point to watch ND games against ACC teams when the match-up is compelling. Here are some of the highlights I have enjoyed... all thanks to the ACC/ND deal:

* 2014 - #2 FSU 31, #5 ND 27 (@FSU) - ND's potential game winning TD in the final seconds called back due to offensive PI. FSU rolls to the playoffs, ND... not so much.

* 2015 - #9 ND 34, uva 27 (@hooville) - ND was rolling after 3 quarters, leading 26-14. But they lost focus after losing their QB to injury and somehow allowed a Mike London team to take a 4th quarter lead. They were toast... until their backup QB throws a 39 yard TD with 12 seconds left. And all the Hoos in Hooville cried Boo Hoo... BWAHAHAHA!

* 2015 - #12 Clemson 24, #6 ND 22 (@Clemson) - Clemson romps in the rain... and then holds off a late ND comeback. Clemson rolls to the playoffs. ND... not so much.

* 2016 - Duke 38, ND 35 (@ND) - Duke scores 10 points in the final 7 minutes to beat ND. At South Bend. With Touchdown Jesus watching. Duke. LOL

* 2016 - VT 34, ND 31 (@ND) - Tech rallies from 17 points down to beat ND on the Senior Day.

* 2017 - #7 Miami 41, #3 ND 8 (@Miami) - Notre Dame exposed and violated in just about every possible way on national TV.

VT plays ND in the 3 of the next 4 years. Man... keeps these hits coming! :)
