Not only has he known how to play the position since he was a little kid, he has an entire season as the starter, playing against some of the best teams in the country. That puts him a "leg up" on his competition.

It will take an extraordinary spring & summer performance to unseat him as the starter. But if that happens, we will truly be blessed with the best QB depth in the history of the program.
