If they were not absolutely sure they had a spot available for the local kid. Rescinding the offer now will piss off every HS coach in the state and could make it more difficult to recruit in the future.

Clemson's intention was to only take a couple OL this year. They have two more on their board from what I read and they'll take both. But they weren't intending to take more than 3 and will likely only get one of their remaining targets.
