My ideas

are mostly that where we are is not nearly as bad as all the criticism seems to indicate

the most fair method for picking playoff teams involves "you have to be conference champion to make it." I like that. I buy into "you can't be the national champion if you're not your conference champion" (at least as long as there are fewer playoff spots than eligible conferences

but I worry that it renders OOC nearly irrelevant...what happens to OOC schedules if those games either don't matter or are unlikely to matter?

and I wonder how much it changes things with respect to controversy for the "best team" or "team that would win on a neutral field" crowd...folks will still crow about fairness of the selection, even though it becomes largely/completely, depending on how implemented, objective

I really don't mind how it is right now. I think the best improvement would be for the P5 to breakaway and to restrict P5 scheduling to P5 only.

ZOMG, it's subjective! yes, it is. I don't have a problem with it.

And I think the "objective formula" or "objective computer" crowd needs to realize that those methods are no better...they'll just shift the controversy
