I also disagreed that the presidential race last year was a reason for ratings dips. It isn't like national debates were on Monday night football or Sunday during games. Right? It isn't like people tuned into CNN instead of Sundays.

if I like a team, and I do, I will watch the game. The national anthem, the protests, the supposed lower quality of THursday games (not really)...didn't stop me from watching my games.
