I agree, I am okay for now with some subjectivity, but it is weighted way to much IMHO for people to think this is not a political system. They need to take more steps towards objectivity.

My personal opinion is that they are worried to much that TV ratings will go down if they get Virginia Tech instead of Alabama. Yet the Virginia Tech Florida State game was a new record ratings wise at the time. They are missing that a lot schools want to think that could be them one day and if not, maybe I won't watch. Of course that is not the main reason to do it. The main reason to do it is because it is the right thing to create a more objective system that is not political.
