then I am not sure the school has to honor the scholarship for the remainder of the semester if the person decides to remain at the school to pursue a degree. I know the scholarship will still count from an athletic standpoint regardless if the school honors it or not.

Also, I am not referring to an athlete who has to give up a sport for health reasons because most schools will honor the scholarship because it is the right thing to do and a good PR move on the school's part. I am referring to an athlete who believes he/she will never believes he/she will be allowed to participate or has simply lost the passion for the sport.
