for expansion to 16 teams if their hopes are to steal some Big XII schools and have four 4-team pods. Geographically, the Big Ten would break tradition with at least one of their western schools to create a 4-team pod with 2 new Big XII schools. UNL could fit in with 2 new Big XII additions, but who would be the 4th traditional Big Ten school that would jump into this new pod? As for the ACC, if 16 teams is the goal, I fear that Notre Dame is always going to complicate things. The ACC might only want to add one Big XII school, which would create at least one very awkward pod (i.e. Notre Dame, Texas, Miami and some 3rd school that ND and Texas would demand... maybe FSU). It's just awkward.

The SEC is a little better set up geographically to add 2 Big XII schools to create a Western pod with 4 former Big XII schools in aTm, Mizzou and 2 new Big XII schools.

But the PAC is already set up to add 4 Big XII schools as they have three 4-team pods already set (the California pod, the Northwest Passage pod and the Rocky Mountain pod). Adding a new Red River pod with Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State is a fairly clean expansion that makes sense. However, that Red River pod needs to deal with 3 time zones as would the rest of that potential conference.
