That sounded so familiar. I remembered what it was now...

There was a (HBO) Real Sports episode recently on one of the other, few survivors of Sandy Hook and his relationship (in Denver now, they were literally already moving the next day to Denver....turns out they should have moved 2 days prior) with a former U of Colorado FB player who was in the Aurora theater shooting and survived that. After Sandy Hook, the young boy essentially retreated from life, and rarely spoke. After a year or so, the only thing that got him going was playing football (just throwing the ball around worked)....so somehow (I forget how) he was introduced to the football player from Aurora and they get together to play/practice football every so often....their shared bond of being shooting survivors helps them cope.

IIRC, the Aurora guy has yet to see a movie in a theater since.
