Isn't OOC games already diminished now?
Ohio State was "punished" for playing Oklahoma. While Alabama was "rewarded" for playing a very bad FSU and DI-FCS (Don't call us D-II) Mercer.
If I am a Big Ten HC or AD at a P5 school that is projected to compete for a Playoff spot every year, then I am going to schedule Air Force (counted as a P5 opponent by Big Ten), Army, Navy, Fresno State (counted as a P5 opponent by Big Ten), Cincy (counted as a P5 opponent by Big Ten), or UConn (counted as a P5 opponent by Big Ten) as my 1 required P5 OOC game and the remaining games against MAC or Sun Belt teams.

On the flip side, if the Committee had selected Ohio State over Alabama, then the Committee is "punishing" Alabama because FSU had the worst team it has had in over 30 years. Maybe ever? Is it "right" to punish Alabama for scheduling an OOC game against "blue blood" FSU when it had no idea what the future held for FSU this year? [Post edited by VTHokie2000 at 12/14/2017 3:20PM]
