In the NFL, teams rest star players once their playoff bids are set


What happens when Georgia sits its stars for the UGa-GT game? How about Notre Dame-USC? USC-Clemson? I think that situation turns otherwise compelling games into utter non-events. Why would UGa waste a week preparing for the triple option with a playoff bid riding on the SECCG? I don't think they would: a smart coach would begin preparation for the SECCG. We do not have to guess at that outcome because it happens in the NFL.

Even the NFL counts every game, because not counting every game renders those games meaningless.
